The moment I saw this painting, I fell in love with it. It’s so homely. The way the orangey roof and the yellow shop awning pops out is delightful.
I bought it at the Salvos. It’s quite old, judging by the frame and backing (well, that’s what an art valuer told me..) and it’s a pity that the signature down on the right is illegible. I always hoped it was a long-lost Paul van Eeden painting.
The words on the store front to the right reads “vêtement” which is French for garment. Framed in Den Haag – the Netherlands. Quite the little European.
