Winner Chosen:

Tamala V

when I was really young I wanted to be a teacher because I loved school
when I was a bit older I wanted to be an occupational therapist – not because I knew what it was, but because it sounded pretty smart (still dont know what it is exactly!)
when I was older still I wanted to be a lawyer
when I was nearly finished school I decided to become a teacher, or an accountant, but settled on teaching as I could always go back
when I was doing my teaching degree I wanted to be anything BUT a teacher (result of a horrid PRAC)
now that I am older, I want to be a good mum for my kids, one they love, respect, talk with and to, and who becomes one of their closest friends when they reach adulthood – and yes, I think I can add this is as part of what I want to be when Im all growed up – because I dont feel all that old, nor all that growed up!

Congrats Tamala – I’ll Make sure the book gets to you asap!

So yes, I made it to 200 posts.  For someone who has the attention span of a gnat, this is a big deal.

And I have loved it.  Seven months of baring my soul, telling you things about my life that should probably have stayed private.

Sharing things that work for me and my family.  Posting about things that I love to do, the things that I am passionate about.

If I had to re-write the “about me” page now, it would read so different as I have grown so much in these seven months.  I am not the same person who wrote this, my first post and when I read it I cringe.  What was I thinking. Only one person read it, and that was me logging in from another computer.  Shame.

Back to the present…told you I had the attention span of a gnat!

To celebrate this auspicious occasion, I am giving away a book written by one of my favourite children’s book authors; Sam McBratney.

It’s the sequel to “Guess how much I love you” and it is a gorgeous book.  McBratney weaves her literary magic with the continuing story of Little Nutbrown Hare and his question of what he will become when he grows up.  The story makes its way through every season and on each page you are treated to the fabulous artwork of Anita Jeram.

To be in the running, leave a comment about what you wanted to be when you “growed” up and your email address. The most imaginative and creative will be the recipient of the book.  Open to international readers.

I will choose the best answer on Christmas Eve, Monday 24th December at 4pm Perth (Western Australia) Standard Time.

  1. I’m a farmer’s daughter so I never wanted to be anything other than a ‘farmeress’ as I called it! These days I’m married to a vet and we keep a small herd of Red Poll cows so I nearly made it!!

  3. When i was little i adored my teachers and therefore also wanted to teach when i grew up. In my juvenile years i wanted jobs that would make me famous and/or make me rich. When reality struck and i realized there was no looks for being a model or enough math-brains to be an accountant i changed my mind back to being a teacher, as the last writer a PRAC made me change my mind once again. I worked in rehabilitation after a bit of time spent thinking in university and now i’m in the best job on earth – Motherhood. Scary, crazy, wonderful motherhood; and i’ll be staying here for a while. I love that author as well!

  4. I wanted to be the first woman president. I even signed in year books “Vote for me!”. Even though I was rather shy, in high school, I ran for ASB and students offices. The classes I took reflected my career choice. I took environmental science instead of band and speech instead of art. Then I realized I’m to naive, gullible, and innocent to go into politics.

  5. Congratulations on reaching 200 posts. I’ve enjoyed reading them and look forward to many more! Your first post has me intrigued. I will go take a look!
When I was in primary school I wanted to be either a nurse or a teacher and own a red car and live with my best friend Judy. I did end up becoming a teacher, have never owned a red car (but still dream of having one) and didn’t end up living with Judy (although we are still great friends and see each other often).

  6. 8. Congrats on the awesome 200 posts xxx

When I was little I used to get smacked so much, so of cause I wanted that power. I thought about it so much and I came up with the answer- so I wanted to be a teacher and a Mummy!

I am both now, but I’ve never had to smack anyone! Not that I could as it’s illegal :D

  9. Hmmmmm let me think – When I ‘growed’ up I wanted to be a child care worker – that was until I did only one week of work experience at a child care centre and very very quickly came to the realisation that you need the patience of a ‘saint’ to work with adorable little kiddles – and I certainly don’t have a whole lot of patience – so I changed my mind oh so quickly! I then wanted to become a nurse – but that changed when I realised I actually had to study (and let’s just say that school was not my most fave place to be – well only the social aspect of school was good – not the actual work)! So the less study the better for me and I became a secretary (a little bit lazy I know)! Later on my dream was to become a mummy – and now that dream has been realised 2 times over – how blessed am I!

Congrats on the 200 posts Tash xx
